Event to be held on Sunday October 16th to benefit the Waterbury Food Shelf and Good Neighbor Fund, as well as Vermont’s only retired racing Greyhound rescue kennel, Northern Greyhound Adoptions. Funds raised for these groups will be split evenly three ways, the goal is to raise at least 2k for each organization.
In the aftermath of Irene, Waterbury’s Food Shelf and Good Neighbor Fund have been instrumental in helping so many, and though not in Waterbury, Northern Greyhound has felt the continuing harsh effect of the economy, and the need for retired racers to be saved and placed in forever homes has not lessened. This was to be be Northern Greyhound Adoptions’ annual Autumn walk-a-thon, but in the tradition of the rescue’s founders’ philosophy that the dogs give back too, the Food Shelf and Good Neighbor Fund have been invited to be joint recipients.
    Walkers will be meet in the pavilion at Hope Davey Field in Waterbury Center at 1 pm on October 16th, and taking off from there. Parking available in each of Hope Davey’s lots, with some overflow parking available in walking distance (please, just do not park on the roads). Dogs are welcome on the walk of course, please keep them leashed, and waste bags will be provided for clean-up. Snacks and beverages will be provided at the pavilion, but please do bring your own water bottle (or bowl for your dog).

Our friends at Iskra Print and JDK Design, with support from Ben & Jerry’s, have made a beautiful poster to celebrate Vermont’s resilience and remind us that we have been through this before – in 1928. The proceeds from sales of this poster benefit the Waterbury Good Neighbor Fund.
